Charlotte area · North and South Carolina

What the public record says about every nursing home and assisted living near you.

Inspections, fines, staffing and ownership for 181 licensed homes within 25 miles of Charlotte — from federal and North Carolina records, in plain English. No home pays us, and none can pay to be listed or ranked.

Nobody in the deal pays us

Placement services are usually paid by the homes they recommend. We take no money from homes, ever, and never rank them for pay.

Every figure links to its source

Each finding points to the government record it came from, so you — or your attorney — can check it yourself.

Dated, so you know how fresh it is

Federal data updates monthly and sometimes slips; state reports are posted as inspectors finish them. We say how old every number is.

Already chose a home? We'll keep watch.

The building, the name and the sign stay the same when a home is sold. We check the records every week and will email you when something changes — with what it means and what you can do, including staying and raising it with the home.

A home you watch has a new owner or operator

CMS's ownership records now list a new owner. A change of owner doesn't mean care will get worse, but sales are often followed by changes in management and staffing in the first year.

    What you can do

Ask the administrator what is changing and whether key staff are staying. Nothing here means your family member has to move.
